I think Fall is definitely in the air...but not in Vegas. It is STILL in the 90's...and that's HOT! Records are being set for high's this month...very unusual. I'm not the only one who thinks it should be cooling off already. Bryanna pulled out her sweater and wanted to wear it to Preschool today. How could I say no, even when it's in the 90's? So, I let her wear it!
Mark left some of his hats laying around the house and the kids started playing with them un-be-knownst to us. A little while later they came into the family room and so we just had to get the camera out!! They have tons of toys, but something as simple as Daddy's hat can keep them occupied forever!

Gingersnaps
SO I think this is THE BEST recipe I've ever baked for fall cookies! This is Sister McCracken's recipe, our Mission President's wife, and I can't thank her enough for sharing it with my mom!!
I served these when I hosted book club on Thursday night...and they were a HIT! Gingersnaps are so versatile, this pumpkin spread is delicious...and then you can change the frosting for christmas cookies!
Gingersnaps
¾ c. Shortening
1 c. Brown Sugar
¼ c. Molasses
1 Egg (3 if doubled)
2 ¼ c. Flour
2 t. Soda
½ t. Salt
1 t. Ginger
1 t. Cinnamon
½ t. Ground Cloves
Stir dry ingredients together. Cream shortening, sugar, molasses, and egg until fluffy. Add dry ingredients. Form into balls. Roll in sugar. Press with the bottom of a glass. Place 2" apart on greased baking sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 mins.
Pumpkin Dip
18 oz. Canned Pumpkin Pie Mix
8 oz. Cream Cheese
2 c. Powdered Sugar
¼ t. Ground Ginger
½ t. Cinnamon
Combine all ingredients and store in refrigerator. Use for dip on Gingersnap Cookies.

Field Trip
Bryanna's preschool class took a field trip to Mountain's Edge Exploration Peak on Tuesday. She had to much fun and was a great little trooper!
Here are some of the kids before the hike up.
They are really cute and their energy really heightens when they are all together!!
The kids did a great job and they all climbed the top! No one fell off the edge either!!
Bryanna asked me to hold her only five times! LOL!!
Aren't they so cute looking over the edge? And this is quite a big class! It's split into a morning and afternoon class, thank goodness! I think Miss Cheryl would pull all her hair out otherwise!!
After the kids had a snack, we all did a little Yoga!! It was SO FUN!
Bryanna was doing a great job trying all the new moves!
Here she is in a warrior position...so cute!
It was a fun time for me to go with just Bryanna and leave Maddox with his Mimi. I enjoyed the one-on-one time so very much, and I think she enjoyed playing with all her friends and at the park after the hike!
Here is sweet little Maddox playing at Mimi's house...Mimi said he was a very good boy for her! He probably loved playing with all the toys without having to share with his big sister!!

Perry Family Reunion
Most of Mark's siblings and their families came into Vegas and we had a great time getting all back together and having fun. When the Perry's get together, there are good times to be had by all; cousins playing together while the adults are catching up with each others' lives. Here are his siblings (and spouses) in birth order:
Julie & James- Idaho
Stephanie & Dave- Idaho
Adam & Amy- California
Desdanie- Las Vegas
Seth Perry (October 1976- January 2008)
Beckie & Jared- Utah
Andrew & Nicki- Switzerland
Mark & Stacy- Vegas
Dan [Mark's dad] and his wife, Mae Bell had rounded us all up, and it was a miracle to get most of us together in the same town in the same weekend! With 7 other siblings living in different states its pretty hard to committ to a particular date. But 6 of the 8 Perry siblings came in to town this weekend. These reunions are such a great reminder of how amazing the Perry family really is!!
We had great food and great company!
The kids (and adults) were having a blast on the trampoline...doing all sorts of crazy tricks!
Wii all had a blast playing the wii...everyone was getting into it!
We got Mark's and Adam's favorite cakes and sang Happy Birthday to them.
Two great cakes from Nothing Bundt Cakes and Freed's Bakery...YUM!
We headed to New York New York hotel to ride the roller coaster, but we decided not to go. Instead we had a blast playing in the arcade! Who would have thought an arcade would have entertained us all?
Goofy Grandpa on the "eletric chair"!! We love him and all the good laughs he gives us!
Mark's bros: Andrew and Adam...and nephew Seth with all the curly hair, yes one of the only males with hair in the family!
Then we headed down the street to eat at In-N-Out...we LOVE their burgers! Steph, I finally snuck a picture of you!
Seth set the trend for wearing the boat hats...too funny!
Amy and Andrew...waiting for our burgers...but it was worth the wait for sure!
Thanks everyone for coming down, we sure loved having you in our home. We love you and can't wait to get together again soon!

Lake Mead with Andrew & Nicki
Jen, my sister, was so nice to take us out on her boat Friday. We had a total blast! I think it was both Andrew and Nicki's first time on Lake Mead...but hopefully not the last!
Being September, it was absolutely beautiful, the water was warm and the weather was gorgeous.
The lake was as smooth as glass! We beached and ate lunch before heading out!
Tubing is our favorite thing to do when we get out on the lake. There's something to gliding across the lake on a tube as the boat whips us from side to side...its SO FUN! Thanks Jen, we ALL had a great time.

Uncle Andrew & Nicki
Mark's brother, Andrew is in town staying with us. He lives in Switzerland, and we are so happy to see him and Nicki! They are so much fun, and wish we could see them more often!
Bryanna is LOVING Uncle Andrew and Nicki...they are so cute with her too! Can you see, Drew is even playing dress up with her? She kept calling Uncle Andrew her "prince" and dancing with him...it was so cute. Maddox on the other hand wasn't so sure of our new visitors. But today, he has warmed up to them so much more!
Our backyard is finally ALL FINISHED!! We are officially ready for the big Perry Family Reunion this Saturday in Las Vegas!! Can't wait to see everyone.
Mark worked really hard getting all the last minute things done. He wired all the landscape lighting and happy to report that it works too! :)
I'm so glad it is done. We can rest for a while now and be a little lazy on some Saturdays! Mark always has something up his sleeve, so it all might be wishful thinking on my end!

100th Post!!
Its only been a few short months since the birth of the Perry Blog, and we've reached 100 posts!!! So, here are 100 things I am grateful for:
1. I am grateful for Mark...life wouldn't nearly be as fun, fulfilled, or worthwhile without him. Life without eachother would be like seeing in black and white...totally monotonous and boring. Thanks babe for lighting up everything!
2. Bryanna, grateful for our firstborn, she is larger than life...is constantly making us smile, laugh, pause to step back and really enjoy what we have. I was laying Bryanna down for bed the other night. I was tickling her back and she turned over and said, "Mom, you're my best friend." At that very moment, the world stopped, my heart swelled and I replied, "Bryanna, you are my best friend, too." I could feel the love in the room so thick that night. Thanks for being my best friend, Bryanna!]
3. Maddox, second born, and the biggest personality packed into his tiny body. He makes a few of our friends want to have another baby. We left the kids at the church for Ward Temple Night with another couple so we could attend, and when we came back to get him, the husband was asking his wife if they could try for another baby, although they already have three school-aged kids. Maddox just kept going to him, wanting to be held, and I'm sure got his way with how he looks at you with his puppy eyes...she said they had already "fixed" that problem! But that's the effect this kid has on people...he is so fun, easy and just like chocolate...irresistable!
4. I'm so grateful for my parents. They have always been there for us, through everything. When something good happens, we can't wait to call them and tell them about it. When something bad happens, they are the first to help us along. They adore Bryanna and Maddox to pieces.
5. I'm so grateful for my in-laws. What a wonderful family Mark has. Grandpa and Nonna are crazy about their grandkids and love them so much. Visits are precious times and the kids eat up every minute with them.
6. Our dog, Putter...he's so fun-loving and sweet. I love how he climbs on my lap and just wants to hang-out there.
7. All our family, for with them, we feel of the Lord's love so much more.
8. The restored gospel of Jesus Christ. I think the same question is asked by many in our faith, "Where would I be without the Church?" Only Heaven knows. Church attendance and those weekly lessons reminds, strengthens, encourages service to those in need and promotes righteous thoughts and deeds. There is emphasis on family first and cherishing those relationships. I love the church.
9. I'm grateful for my mission, for during that sacrifice, my testimony grew, my capacities widened, and my love and understanding of God multiplied. I would not be the same person today with out those 18 months wearing the name of Christ on my chest, and serving the people of Japan.
10. And the exact same goes for Mark and his mission...he is more defined in the gospel for his service in Baltimore.
11. The Savior, his infinite atonement, the healing all receive when we are able to repent and forgive and partake of the love and mercy He offers us.
12. Our home, the shelter is provides, the warmth and love between the walls, but most importantly, the people living there...they are my life!
13. Modern medicine, and all the miracles and lifesaving feats that come from it.
14. Music, all kinds...the inspiration it offers...Religous kind, for the spirit I feel. Up-beat kind, for the energy my soul feels. Romantic kind, for the flitters my heart feels.
15. Air conditioning, so I can survive the hot summers in the desert!
16. Automobiles, the luxury it is today, even if gas is expensive, I'm still grateful for my four wheels!
17. Grocery stores, so I don't have to farm all of my of own food...love to grocery shop!
18. Education, learning has always been something I've enjoyed.
19. Health, more aware of it when I'm sick!
20. Scriptures, reading the word of God and His eternal truths, just reading helps me make personal leaps and bounds.
21. The elements; earth beneath my feet, wind rustling my hair, water dripping from the sky, and fire crackling in the pit. Heaven is more near when I pause to take in the earth's beauty.
22. Modern plumbing, I'm so glad I don't have to walk to an outhouse to pee in the middle of the night, or for that matter, any time of day! :)
23. The internet and all it encompasses...connections with those far away, esp. email and blogging...glad I can send a note to someone without having to put a postal stamp on it. I can't remember the last time I bought stamps.
24. Online Bill-pay and e-statements...reduces paper, and the stress of making the payments go out on time!
25. Cell phones...makes me seem so much more efficient. Contact Mark in a moment, and vice versa.
26. Debit and credit cards...I never carry cash...plastic is all I ever use!
27. Wii...wii have lots of fun playing it!
28. A landscaped backyard, its great enjoying the yard, sitting out there or playing with the kids.

33. Cameras to capture life's moments, especially childhood, the years that go too quickly.

35. Tennis, my sanity, my outlet, my fun!
36. Good Resturants, that keep me coming back time and time again.
37. Date nights, so I can feel like a girlfriend all over again.
38. Toys that keep my children busy for hours.
39. Movie nights and popcorn...need I say more?
40. Hot showers, the pick-me-up part of my day, rejuvenate and refresh, ready to take on the tasks at hand.
41. Preschool for Bryanna...love that two hours she learning and growing.
42. Nap time...there's something to a quiet, peaceful time of day, where everyone can take a break.
43. Blogging...a place where friendship exists, connected together online, but separated by thousands of miles.
44. Self-help books. I've always been a fan, trying to improve myself, learning from others who know what they are talking about helps me find a new prespective on life.
45. The dinner table, where we can fill our tummies, and feel of each other's love.
46. Vacations of all sorts; family trips to the beach, the cabin, to Disnelyland, weekend get-a-ways and cruising with Mark, they all refill the well.
47. Swimming Pools, the fun and play and energy we can expend in them, it just makes me feel less lazy during the summertime. If I can make it to the pool with both kids and have fun, anything is possible:)
48. Eternal families, how could I not live forever with out these magnificent souls who I brought into the world? Or without Mark, who is the other half that makes us whole?
49. Sunglasses...to protect my eyes from all sorts of nasty UV rays!
50. Our trampoline, the kids can have fun and get their exercise.
51. Parks, where kids can run wild til they can't go any longer.
52. Carnivals...magical and adventurous.
53. The gym, another form of sanity for me.
54. Computers, without them, the world wouldn't be turning quite the same way.
55. Aroma candles, I love the scent they bring into my home, of all atmospheres, nothing can bring it all together quite like a delicious candle.
56. The piano, an instrument that comes to life.
57. Leather couches, they hold up well and don't look torn apart, yet.
58. Bread; homemade, store bought, fresh from the bakery...there's nothing like a scrumptious slice of bread in the morning, or night.
59. Waterfalls, big or small, but especially the ones surrounding my home, and the serenity the drops of water can emulate.

58. Bread; homemade, store bought, fresh from the bakery...there's nothing like a scrumptious slice of bread in the morning, or night.
59. Waterfalls, big or small, but especially the ones surrounding my home, and the serenity the drops of water can emulate.
60. Dried flowers, the memories they bring.
61. Kirkland's and all the goodies I come home with.
62. Cordless phones...I can walk up and down the stairs on the same phone while talking!
63. Clocks, to help me tell time and remind me that that is a precious thing in my life.
64. Cereal, makes breakfast time guilt-free and easy...something the whole family loves.
65. Blow dryers...makes doing hair so easy. I will have to find and thank the inventor...even if it's not til I get to heaven!!
66. Church service and callings, one of the only ways I feel I can give back to the Lord, because I have been given much...
67. Strollers, I just couldn't do everything holding my children when I'm out and about, [plus they aren't feather weights!]
68. Babysitters, freedom to go do something by myself, or with Mark, just the two of us!
69. Marks hard work everyday, his efforts are the size of Mt. Everest!
70. Sisters, the fun we have just being ourselves, together.
71. Lake outings...a fun escape from Vegas, but close enough to go often.
72. BBQ's, their's nothing better than eating with your fingers and licking them too!
73. Homemade cookies, straight from the oven.
74. Learning to quilt...still not good, but grateful for a patient teacher!
75. Disposable diapers...although if I had to, I would use clothe diapers. I just like the idea of only handling a poopy diaper once, then throwing it out!
76. Bath time, the kids love it and it helps them calm down for bed.
77. The scent of freshly bathed children, there is nothing better than a clean, ready for bed baby!
78. Doing crafts with Bryanna, she loves to create whatever I place in front of her.
79. Baking and cooking with Bryanna, again, enjoys it almost as much as me :)
80. Daddy time...so grateful for the time Mark takes to spend with the kids and gives me a break!
81. Getting my car washed...although it does not happen as often as it should!
82. A clean house...
83. A clean house...yes, I put it twice...because I am really grateful for a clean house!
84. Toothbrushes and toothpaste...love that clean feeling after I brush!
85. Listerine...tops off the dental hygiene routine for me...I love the burn!
86. Flossing...can't be more grateful for a spick-n-span clean mouth!!
87. Our flower garden, and how it helps teach Bryanna to take care of them too!
88. Getting a pedicure...just thinking about it makes me smile!
89. All the modern luxuries...electricity, running water, gas lines, television, cable...
90. Make-up, although I don't wear it everyday, it helps!
91. Paper towels, helps clean up those everyday spills.
92. Toilet paper...enough said.
93. Sam's club, where I can buy all those paper goods, and then some, for cheaper!
94. "To do" lists...I'm a list maker and I admit it, but I'm grateful for them, other wise I'd forget everything!
95. Fruits and vegis...delicious snacks that make mouth happy!
96. Hot fudge brownie Sundae...how could I forget this tasty indulgence?
97. Calendars, takes the place of a daily planner and keeps track of all the craziness...
98. Attorneys...they do the things I don't know how to do...legally!
99. Prayer...gives me so much strength and helps me try and figure life out.
100. Creme bruilee... oh my goodness...its been way too long since I've had some! Any one know any good recipes for it?

Happy Birthday Mark!!!
Some of my favorite things about MARK:
~He loves me so much and shows it in deed and thought (It's the best to be with someone who absolutely adores you... right back at you, babe!)
~He is such a great father to our kids, they idolize him!
~Mark works really hard for the family, and in turn I can be home with the kids, there is no other place I'd rather be! Thanks for all you do, everyday, you are my hero!
~He loves to talk about finances, and is always sharing information with me, he's so savvy that way, and I just love it!
~He has a built in navigation system...we've never been lost without Mark!
~Mark is very goal oriented, he knows what he wants and gets after it...hmmmm, sounds like our court-ship!
~Although he puts in a lot of hours during the day for work, he can come home and still do things around the house, and doesn't complain! (thanks honey...I love all your help at home :)
~Mark watches all kinds of sports on T.V., and therefore, so do we. Bryanna knows all the sports, and seems to prefer golf and tennis the most...LOL!
~Most of all, my favorite thing about Mark is how anchored in the gospel he is and his love for God. He has an amazing testimony and I just love it when he shares it with the kids and I!
Hope you have a great day, you old fart!! (I get to call him old because he's really younger than me...)

Fantastic...
Is how I wish I felt. I caught a horrible stomach flu...which hit me at 3 am last night. Its just the worst when you're woken up to your stomach twisting and turning and you don't know whether to up-chuck or sit on the john. And you wish it was just one or the other. I had liquid coming from both ends, which is never a beautiful sight, or for that matter, makes you feel like you just got ran over by an 18 wheeler and every joint in your body aches.
I was doing so well, last week I worked up to a 9 minute 50 second mile speed for three miles on the treadmill at the gym (not bad for not running all summer!), and now I feel like I have to start all over again, weak and out-of-shape. Just getting to the gym, with both the kids, was a herioc effort for me. Don't worry Lyndsay, I will come once the aches go away. Sheesh...sometimes I feel like my efforts are in vain and that getting in shape is all mental, just to see the physical results.
And not to mention this nasty little bug ruined my Fast Sunday and all my preparations to sub for the Primary Chorister. It doesn't make a difference eating or not, because the thought of food still makes my stomach turn, but the spiritual part of the fast is what I looked forward to. I was planning on having such a fun time with all the primary kids today too...music is such a huge part of our worship.
Maddox came down with this Thursday night...you know, liquid out both ends, but I thought we were all safe when Saturday came, we were all so productive, Mark trenching for the electrical for the waterfall in the planter and I canned some Raspberry jam and no one was puking yet...WRONG! At least Maddox is feeling better...let's just cross our fingers Bryanna and Mark don't get it.
Thank goodness for Ginger-ale, Imodium AD and Advil Gel caps...

Canning...
The kids love it when Mark gets home from work. He gets down on their level and plays with them...and they just eat it up! He's such a good daddy! I forgot to mention that while I was up in Utah, Mark was a SUPER DADDY!! Planting shrubs and trees in the yard, making a casserole for Sunday dinner, taking the kids shopping for some new church shoes and Bryanna's dance shoes were just some of the things he did. When I walked in the door from our trip, the house was SPOTLESS!! He is amazing!
Here is the MOUND of peaches that I started with...
I had to boil ALL the peaches and tomatoes to get their skins off easier.
This was an ALL day procedure...
And my beautiful products: Peach Jam and Canned Tomatoes!! I'm so proud...this was my first canning experience ALL by myself!! I can't wait to reap all the hard work it took to make those pretty cans! Its fun to give something hand made from the heart too.

First day of Preschool and canning
She had her first day on Tuesday, and I'm slowly getting around to it. I just love this kid, she says the funniest things, and is learning SO MUCH!! It's almost not fair to watch her grow up so fast.
This is one of my favorites...her beautiful curly hair, totally UNTAMED! I don't brush her hair always first thing in the morning...plus it's not easy coaxing her to come in and brush her hair...curls = tangles!! So its wild and fancy free...
Maddox is smiling the cheese again!! That smile of his just gets me!
When I was up in UT, we stopped and got lots of fruits and vegis from some local farms, I have my work cut out! I have lots of canning and jamming to do, of which I'm kind of excited for. I bought HUGE cases of tomatoes, peaches, raspberries and corn. So today I made salsa out of half the tomato case, and froze most of it.
We've been eating corn for dinner EVERY night this week...its so good, you don't need to butter or salt it. And tomorrow I have my day planned out for doing raspberry and peach jam and tomato canning...I'm thrilled about it...lots of work, but I'm anticipating having the homemade goods all through the winter months!

Girl's weekend & Bryanna's First day of Preschool
Usually all the kids and husbands come up to Swiss Days with us every Labor Day weekend, the guys go golfing, and the girls go shopping! It can't get any better than that. This year was a little different though. I wasn't planning on coming up this year because we are so busy doing things around our house, that it just didn't seem feasable.
My parents are in the Mission Presidency, a new calling they are learning lots about, but having so many spiritual experiences with. They have gone to 4 Zone Conferences already and had to fly up to Reno to attend some of them. This schedule is REALLY busy and doesn't give the freedom for a lot of weekend trips either. With that in mind, we were all trying to be OK with staying home this Labor day. But, my mom called me early Saturday morning, jsut getting into town the night before and she was ready to take a girls trip! So we jumped in the car and drove up to Midway, UT and hit the fair. I'm so glad I came up this year. I was fine with missing it, but luck popped in the nick of time!
It was rainy and got into the 40's, which I wasn't prepared for...I hadn't packed a sweatshirt and was wearing sandalls. But, it brought in the fall faster than ever! It was beautiful as the clouds hugged the mountain tops and swooped down into the valley, nothing like a Vegas rainstorm where the sky feels still a million miles away.
Swiss Days was full of creative and artsy people, who make the most amazing things, out of wood & dried flowers, leather & paper, metal & marbles, and lots of ribbons & bows. Getting to all the booths takes me two days, but with no kids, mom and I hit ALL the booths in the last four hours we had left before it closed. The only downer was I caught a nasty cold that is still lingering and leaving me dragging my feet around, and I was bit by a Brown Recluse on Friday, but didn't figure it out until the drive up. Years ago, my dad was bit by a Brown Recluse, and Necrosis (skin that dies and turns black) actually set in and he has a scar left from it. If it weren't for the girl trip and telling her all the signs and symptoms of this mysterious insect bite, I wouldn't have known what the heck bit me and wouldn't have figured out the steps to take care of it. Mom had some antibiotics on hand and it helped the "bull's eye" go down and now on the 4th day, its as small as a dime. You'd think I'd be more scared of such a nasty spider bite, but it was pretty minor comparitively and didn't hurt very much, luckily.
It was fun, but glad to be home with all the goodies I got up there! Bryanna starts Preschool today, I'm so excited for her! My little girl is getting so big!
