spring

I love spring, for many reasons. There are many occasions that Mark and I celebrate together, our anniversary for one. And then my birthday is 10 days later. We have found that we need to save up for those seeing as how close together they are. But one thing we don't need any money to celebrate is springtime. Mother nature is at its best, and most beautiful, {according to me} in the Springtime. There are numerous primary songs about all the spring, but I especially love this one:

Why is the sky so blue and clear? Why is the robin's song so dear?

Why is the sun so warm and bright, Filling the earth with glorious light?

Why are the fields so green today? Why do the clouds all float away?

Why does my heart with gladness sing? Only because it's spring!

Last summer we put in our backyard, so I missed out on our spring flowers with the move. This year it has taken my breath away. We didn't pull alot of the small flowers we planted in the fall during the cold winter months, and I'm so glad we didn't. Our backyard is in FULL bloom now!

I must enjoy it while it lasts, for in Vegas, spring time is only a short month before the heat moves in for 3 long months.

Uncle Andrew & Nicki

Mark's brother, Andrew is in town staying with us. He lives in Switzerland, and we are so happy to see him and Nicki! They are so much fun, and wish we could see them more often!

Bryanna is LOVING Uncle Andrew and Nicki...they are so cute with her too! Can you see, Drew is even playing dress up with her? She kept calling Uncle Andrew her "prince" and dancing with him...it was so cute. Maddox on the other hand wasn't so sure of our new visitors. But today, he has warmed up to them so much more!

Our backyard is finally ALL FINISHED!! We are officially ready for the big Perry Family Reunion this Saturday in Las Vegas!! Can't wait to see everyone.

Mark worked really hard getting all the last minute things done. He wired all the landscape lighting and happy to report that it works too! :)

I'm so glad it is done. We can rest for a while now and be a little lazy on some Saturdays! Mark always has something up his sleeve, so it all might be wishful thinking on my end!

Backyard progress

On Saturday, the grass was put in the back yard! I have to say that it changes the feeling completely! My patio stays so much cleaner now, and I can't wait to do the finishing touches with the landscape and lighting.

Juan came to help lay the grass, and Bryanna instantly became friends with him. (She is a magnet for people...and people are attracted to her as well...she has an amazing gift of relating to people and she is only THREE!)

Bryanna asks me what his name is, and I told her "Juan".
She said, "One?"
Me: "No, Juan!"
Bryanna: "Oh. I like his name!" (Still thinking his name is the number one!)

It was pretty funny the rest of the day, her calling him One...I couldn't help but snap the pictures of her talking his ear off!

Now on to planting trees and shrubs!

Bryanna and I were in the backyard yesterday and she saw an imprint in the dirt from a bucket...and she said...

Bry: "Look mamma! A circle!"
Me: "Let's make a smiley face!"

Me: "Look, Bryanna, he's smiling now!"
Bry: "That looks like my daddy!"
As soon as she said that I had to grab my camera!! I was laughing so hard!!

Finally, the heap of dirt and rocks are gone and the planters are filled, and I'm so happy to report that the sprinkler system is DONE!

The curbing was crafted this morning.

I think we are ready for some grass back here!!!

The planter boxes are now ready to paint!

I am SO EXCITED to get some plants and trees back here...instead of a dirt backyard, it will be nice to have some life growing in the backyard! I think part of the fun of doing the backyard ourselves is, as our kids grow, we can see the difference watching all the beautiful shrubs and trees that will be growing as well!

Although there is no landscaping YET, The kids still love going out there and jumping. Its nice to get them outside for a change when we are at home.
